FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I just received an IRS letter — what should I do first?

Don't ignore it, and don't call the IRS yourself before talking to us. Forward the notice (every page) to our office and we'll pull your IRS transcripts within 24 hours and outline your options at no cost. Most notices have a 30-day response window — we move fast.

Can you really stop wage garnishments and bank levies?

In most cases, yes — and often within 24–72 hours. Once we file Power of Attorney and propose a resolution (Installment Agreement, CNC status, or OIC), the IRS is required to release active levies. We've stopped garnishments for clients the same week they hired us.

What is an Offer in Compromise and do I qualify?

An OIC lets you settle your tax debt for less than you owe — sometimes pennies on the dollar. Qualification depends on your income, expenses, assets, and ability to pay over the next 1–2 years. We pre-qualify you for free using the IRS's own formula before you spend a dime.

How many years of back returns can you file?

We routinely prepare 5–10 years of back returns. The IRS generally requires the last 6 years to be filed for you to be considered 'in compliance' and eligible for any settlement. We reconstruct income from IRS wage transcripts when records are missing.

I'm being audited. Do I have to attend the audit?

No. Once you sign Form 2848 (Power of Attorney), we attend the audit on your behalf — in person, by phone, or by correspondence. Most of our clients never speak to an auditor.

Will the IRS forgive my penalties?

Often, yes. First-Time Abatement and reasonable-cause penalty relief can eliminate large amounts of failure-to-file and failure-to-pay penalties. We request these as part of every resolution where they apply.

Is everything I tell you confidential?

Yes. Communications with our Tax Professionals and Enrolled Agents are protected under federally recognized practitioner confidentiality rules. Nothing you share is disclosed without your written consent.
